Design Concept & Context
I designed this house while I work in OKOCA architects in Mallow. I carefully considered Martin and Marie’s design brief and their accommodation requirements. This rural dwelling respects the concept of a contemporary style whilst taking into account traditional rural building forms and site layout. The overall massing is broken up into 2 main narrow elements and reflects how traditional farm houses have evolved. Outdoor spaces have been carefully considered so that the internal spaces are suitably connected to the outdoors and surrounding countryside.
The garage was used to create a courtyard and provide shelter form the weather and the public road.
